July 27, 2012 – Saint Paul, MN – Sunday will mark 100 days until Election Day, when Minnesotans will vote on whether to limit the freedoms of their friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. To commemorate the day, Minnesotans United for All Families will embark on a massive statewide effort to reach out to 100,000 voters over a three-day period.

Starting Saturday and lasting through Monday, Minnesotans United will bring in thousands of volunteers to spark conversations with 100,000 voters across the state about why defeating this hurtful amendment is so crucial. Many of these volunteers will participate in ‘marathon phone banks’ at the many offices around the state, having conversations with voters about what marriage means and who should have the freedom to participate in it.

Other volunteers will participate in “Let Your Friends Know” trainings, which are focused on galvanizing people to have conversations with people in their lives. Research shows that the single most important action people can take to defeat the amendment is to start conversations with friends, family and people they know. That same research shows that 67 percent of people with gay and lesbian friends will Vote No if their friends talk to them about why marriage is important. The project aims to engage in 25,000 conversations throughout the state.

The following events will be open to the media:
